Drop of youth bouncy sleeping face mask.

Follow my blog with Bloglovin
When it comes to using face masks I have been very lazy, especially in the evenings, as I just want to quickly remove my make up, wash my face put some moisturiser on and go to bed. But when it comes to using face masks it’s a completely different story, because it usually adds an extra 10-15 minutes to my routine and sometimes I feel very sleepy and too tired to wait so I would skip this step. But when I would remember to do it, it would normally be once a month or even every 6 weeks, which isn’t very useful, as with age the skin on your face tends to lose elasticity and by using face masks it could restore some of that elasticity.

I tried some face masks that you can sleep in but it takes a very long time for it to be absorbed and sometimes I would just fall asleep and end up waking up with my face stuck to the pillow, which feels disgusting. The body shop has always had great products so when I read about the drop of youth bouncy sleeping face mask  I wanted to try it out but I didn’t want to buy another mask and be disappointed in the results whilst also wasting money on it. So I asked the shop assistant if I could buy a sample size of the face mask and she offered me a free sample jar with this mask to try it before I bought it. The jar had enough in it for me to use 4 times because you only need a tiny amount to use. Once I had used the sample I decided this mask was definitely worth it and bought myself the full product.

This sleeping face mask is different from any other masks that I tried before; it has a very weird texture, which reminded me of jelly. It comes in a glass jar with a little plastic spatula/spoon, which is very handy. First of all it’s very hygienic and second of all because of the jelly like texture it is very helpful to scoop and apply to your face. The mask is a coconut yoghurt colour and the texture is jelly like and feels quite bouncy. The mask is very cooling and refreshing on the face, you only need a small amount and then it absorbs very swiftly, just massage it on your face and go to bed. In the morning my face looks fresh, smooth and moisturised and I feel refreshed.

The body shop website has a special technique on how to apply the mask, here is a picture from the website and the link to the tutorial page: https://www.thebodyshop.com.my/bounce-back-to-youth

The ingredients in the mask are as listed on the packaging: Aqua/Water (Solvent), Propanediol (Viscosity Modifier), Glycerin (Humectant), Dimethicone (Skin Conditioning Agent), Helianthus Annuus Hybrid Oil (Emollient), Polysorbate 20 (Emulsifier), Diheptyl Succinate (Skin Conditioning Agent - Emollient), Acrylates/Beheneth-25 Methacrylate Copolymer (Viscosity Controlling Agent), Phenoxyethanol (Preservative), Tocopheryl Acetate (Antioxidant), Orbignya Oleifera Seed Oil (Emollient), Benzyl Alcohol (Preservative), Caprylhydroxamic Acid (Chelating Agent), Sodium Hyaluronate (Humectant), Sodium Hydroxide (pH Adjuster), Parfum/Fragrance (Fragrance), Disodium EDTA (Chelating Agent), Adenosine (Skin-Conditioning Agent), Caffeine (Skin Conditioning Agent), Capryloyl Glycerin/Sebacic Acid Copolymer (Film Former), Linalool (Fragrance Ingredient), Citronellol (Fragrance Ingredient), Leontopodium Alpinum Meristem Cell Culture (Skin Conditioning Agent), Limonene (Fragrance Ingredient), Citric Acid (pH Adjuster), Xanthan Gum (Viscosity Modifier).

I would use this mask 2-3 times a week. I am really enjoying using this mask and seeing the results. You can purchase this product online at: http://www.thebodyshop.co.uk/shop-by-range/drops-of-youth/drops-of-youthbouncy-sleeping-mask.aspx  at £22 or in store.

Konjac Sponge

Follow my blog with Bloglovin The Konjac Sponge has been all over the Internet for a while now and I recently tried it about a month ago and its fantastic!

As it says on the original Konjac sponge website, the sponge is simple, effective, deep cleansing and pure. The Konjac sponge is eco friendly, 100% natural and made from pure edible vegetable roots and fiber. Konnyaku (the vegetable used) has been used for 1,500 years in Asia as an eco friendly beauty treatment for sensitive skin.

In my house we have 2 sponges one for me and one for my teenage kids. The one I use is the Konjac French Pink Clay facial puff sponge. It has nourishing minerals and is designed to “purify even the most sensitive skin”. The one, which my kids use, is the Konjac Bamboo Charcoal facial puff sponge. This has rich activated carbon and is designed to clean pores and remove blackheads and dirt.

I use the pink sponge in the evening after I remove my make-up. I clean my skin with the sponge and it leaves my skin feeling nice and smooth. The sponge is very gentle on my skin; it cleans, exfoliates and removes dead skin cells. It’s quite soft and the first time I used it I thought it didn’t do anything and I was just cleaning my face with a soft cotton ball. But after I finished my face looked so bright, clean and smooth and it was ready for the rest of my evening routine.

My kids use the bamboo charcoal sponge and they absolutely love it. They’re so lazy that it’s perfect for them! It does a great job with their skin, unclogging their pores, removing dry and dead skin as well as removing their blackheads. I also use the black sponge as well as my kids as its perfect for all ages and great on all types of skin.

How to use this sponge:
It depends on where you order the sponge from, from some websites they send it to you in a box and its dry, other websites will send it to you in a bag and its soft and ready to use. If it comes in the dry form, you just need to place it under warm/hot water depending on what you prefer to wash your face with and the sponge will begin to soften. Once the sponge is completely soaked throughout and soft its ready to use. I simply rub the sponge on my face in circular motions.

If the sponge comes in the bag already soft and ready to use, just rinse it under warm water just to clean it before using.  You can also use the sponge with your cleanser however it’s not really necessary because the sponge does a great job on its own.

After I'm done with the sponge I simply rinse it under warm water and then hang it on a little hook beside my sink in the bathroom to dry. After its fully dry it becomes small and hard and ready to use again. The sponge usually lasts between 2-3 months depending on level of usage.

Benefits of the charcoal sponge, as it says on the packaging:
  • Packed with minerals and antioxidants
  • Kills acne causing bacteria
  • Retains the natural pH balance of your skin

Benefits of the French pink clay sponge:
  • Perfect for sensitive skin
  • Gentle exfoliator
  • 100% colouring free
  • 100% additive free
  • 100% biodegradable
  • Naturally sustainable
  • Environmentally safe

I love both of these sponges they do a great job. I'm very happy I finally tried this product.

You can buy these products from https://www.konjacspongecompany.com/shop/facial-sponges.html from £7.99 and you can choose one which suits your skin best.

Burberry Fresh Glow Luminous Fluid Base

Follow my blog with Bloglovin
Let's just start by talking about the packaging. If I could I would buy the whole Burberry make up range just for the packaging, I would decorate my house with this beautiful range, it’s just so gorgeous!

When I first heard about this product I really wanted to have it but then when I saw a couple of photos of the bottle I thought it was pretty expensive for such a small amount, but then when I saw it in a shop and looked closer I saw that when you lifted the lid there was an entire bottle underneath the lid instead of just a pump. So obviously after that experience I got it and never regretted purchasing this product. It is definitely worth paying £34.00.

This product can be used in three different ways. Personally I prefer the first method as this works best with my skin.

1. As a base or primer:
It minimizes my pores and fills in the fine lines. It also livens up my face making it look fresh and glowing. At first when I applied it, it just felt like a normal moisturizer and my face doesn’t feel like I have an extra layer on it. It feels and looks very good on my face. Sometimes in the morning once I'm done with my morning routine I just put some of fresh glow on and a bit of mascara and I'm ready to go.

2. Mixed with foundation:
Its not the best way to use this product but if you like you can pump some of the fresh glow on your hand and some foundation as well and then mix it with a brush then apply to your face. In my personal opinion and with my skin type I prefer to use it separately from my foundation and  would usually put it on first.

3. As a highlighter:
You can use it as a highlighter by applying a small amount to the top of the cheek bones, it gives a beautiful glow but again with my skin it works best as a base coat.

The shade of the fresh glow is a pearly white colour with a bit of shimmer and warmth, which gives this beautiful natural glow to your face.
